Our Approach to Training and Development
Instructional System Design (ISD)
Training: Covering both sides of the coin - Knowledge and Hands-on
A brief description of the ISD process:
Analysis (Job Task Analysis)
Analyze system (unit/system, job) to gain a complete understanding.
Compile a task list of all tasks associated with each job.
Identify tasks that need training (needs analysis).
Identify competencies (knowledge and performance) for the tasks.
Design
Develop the learning objectives for each task.
Review existing material (manuals, procedures, vendor materials).
Define the levels of competency that the learner must demonstrate.
Identify the steps required to perform the various tasks.
Develop the performance tests to demonstrate mastery of the tasks (written, hands on, etc).
Sequence and structure the learning and methodologies.
Development
Work with subject matter experts (SME) to obtain the technical and safety requirements.
Develop materials that will help the students learn the task (manuals, procedures, DVDs)
Develop activities that will help the students learn the task (student guides).
Verify all materials with SMEs to ensure the materials accomplish the objectives.
Implement
Create a plan for conducting the training, evaluations (exams and hands-on), and management for tracking performance.
Evaluate
Review and evaluate each phase (analyze, design, develop, implement) to ensure it is accomplishing what it is supposed to.
Revise training system to make it better.
